According to data from the Danish Solar Association (Dansk Solcelleforening), Denmark installed 545 MW of solar in 2024, with utility-scale projects driving market growth.
In 2024, Denmark added 545 MW of solar capacity, up from 378 MW in 2023 but down from 1 GW in 2022. This new capacity brings Denmark's total solar capacity to over 4 GW.
Utility-scale projects were the primary driver of solar growth in Denmark in 2024, contributing 356 MW from projects larger than 1 MW. Private systems under 15 kW contributed 74 MW, while commercial and industrial systems under 1 MW added a combined total of 115 MW.
The Danish Solar Association expects utility-scale projects to continue leading solar growth, forecasting 750 MW of new capacity in 2025 and 1 GW by 2026.
“We expect continued growth in Denmark in the coming years due to the ambitious targets set by the Danish parliament,” said Flemming V. Kristensen, chairman of the association.
The association also noted that regulatory changes, such as reductions in grid connection tariffs and self-consumption policies, could further boost solar deployment.
